Some experimental Moon pictures

27 September 2012 Moon pictures

Taken last night using his new super fast (around 50 frames per second) imaging camera – these are Bizibilder’s first Moon pictures with his new set-up.  Really just getting to know how the camera works and sorting out exposure times etc.  (Click to enlarge).

The Little Dumbbell Nebula

Picture saved with settings applied.

About 1/3 the size of M27 (The Dumbbell Nebula – see July for a Picture) the Little Dumbbell Nebula is in Perseus.  This image is 2h 10min exposure taken with my usual set-up. (Click to enlarge).

A bit more Bubble…

Picture saved with settings applied.

Last night Bizibilder added a further 3 hours 10 minutes of exposures to his “Bubble Nebula” project.  He has combined these images with the ones taken on the 8th September (1 h 55 min) to make a total exposure time of 5 hours and 10 minutes.  This has reduced the background noise quite a bit and is probably as far as he can go as he would have to double the exposure time again to get a noticeable difference!  (Click to enlarge).  By the way – the bubble is caused by a shock wave from a central star blowing a “bubble” into the interstellar dust.

Today's Sun, getting low now when I get home from work - and I had to use a stick to hold back the neighbours Buddleia that was getting in the way !!  I hope no one noticed!

Another Bubble

Picture saved with settings applied.

Bizibilder has imaged the Bubble nebula before – this is a work in progress as imaging was curtailed last night when the clouds rolled in after 1h 55mins.  It is very noisy as it needs much more time spent on it (He was hoping to get around 6-8 hours total exposure time over the next few days/weeks if only the weather would oblige!)

Sunny - 8th Sept

Today’s effort – a bit late in the day as Bizibilder had to wait for the clouds to clear!

About time Bizibilder put the date in the title of his Sun pictures!!  So here is today’s effort – through very hazy conditions that he could not avoid as work intervened!!

Todays Sun (after a couple of cloudy days) through thin high haze.  Quite a bit of activity and a decent sized Active Region coming into view.
