The Sun during the thaw!

26 Jan 2013 JPEG26 Jan 2013 Annotated JPEG26 Jan 2013 Long & Lat

Poor old Bizibilder had to paddle about in the slush to take these!  (He has just endured two weeks of sub-zero temperatures and snow).  The Seeing was awful with the Sun “boiling” all over the place!

Reprocessed Crab Nebula (Replaced picture)

Bizibilder has been having a play with his recent Crab Nebula data and has come up with yet another (his third) version - much more detail in the Nebula. This is a reprocess of exactly the same stacked image, He just took a bit more time over it!  Click for full size:

Today’s Sun–at last!

13 January 2013 JPEG13 January 2013 Annotated JPEG13 January 2013 Long & Lat

After waiting all day (including setting up and taking down twice!!!!!) I finally managed to get these with the Sun very low over the neighbours rooftop and behind some twiggy trees!  Not the best images but I was determined to get that spot! (or spots - AR 1654 - it really is big).  Teccie bit - 60/128 frames stacked in R5 with flats.  Evostar 120 Achromat and Canon 1100D.

Crab Nebula (the result of a Supernova about 1000 years ago!

A swift Jupiter–the “boring” side!

9 January 2013 Jupiter Reprocess

Bizibilder took this before taking a TV break – when he went back outside the seeing had deteriorated so much he promptly packed up in disgust!

A Foggy Sun with measles:

6 January 2013 JPEG6 January 2013 Annotated JPEG6 January 2013 Long & Lat

Foggy this morning hence the awful images!  It looks as if the Sun has measles?

Normally Bizibilder takes sun pictures at ISO 100 and 1/600-1/4000 sec exposure – today’s were ISO 800 and 1/125sec!

New Year Sun

1 Jan 2013 JPEG1 Jan 2013 Annotated JPEG1 Jan 2013 Long & Lat

Todays Sun in beautiful clear blue skies!!  Hopefully an omen for the New Year.  Stack of 64/128 with 24 flats.  Evostar 120 Achromat, Canon 1100D 1/1250 sec ISO 100 Baader Solar film.

I took a set of images about an hour earlier than these and left the scope set-up.  I'm glad I did as the earlier set were nowhere near as clear.  Its surprising what a difference about 2.5° altitude makes.
