I’ve marked the Mare Humboltarium – it can only be seen from Earth when the moon’s orbital oscillations (officially called libration) allows us to see it. We can see around 59% of the Moons total surface from Earth (but only 50% at any one time!!). This little animation shows what is going on:

This is the first light for my new set up of the C11 (11” diameter telescope) and 2x Barlow to try and get some decent images of the planets. Jupiter was first up and I'm quite pleased with this result as the seeing was better than it has been for a while allowing for a reasonable image. Now all I need is a lot of practice!!
