The Witches Broom

Another clear night last night – Bizibilder managed 2h 20mins on the witches broom.  My first go at this subject and it seems to have come out OK.  I did lose a couple of subs to a small cloud that floated past which was rather annoying!

This nebula is just one part of a huge area of nebulosity in the constellation Cygnus (The Swan) – it is actually the remains of a supernova that exploded around 7000 years ago and is about 1500 light years away.  The bright star is 52 Cygni and is much closer – only about 200 ly away – is has nothing to do with the nebula itself.  All the background stars are part of the Milky Way.
