Bizibilder has been very busy recently - He has acquired a small telescope for his recent birthday so that he can return to his old hobby - Astronomy.
Just for the fun of it he pointed the lens of his "point and shoot" digital camera at the eyepiece tonight and the results are shown here.
(They are TERRIBLE!)
But just go to show what could be achieved with considerably more care and attention.
The lower one has been "enhanced" with "Infranview" - free picture fiddling software that I need to learn how to use.

They also explain the silly picture below!! Bizibilder was using the box as a mask to try and reduce the glare from the neighbours lights!! The final decision - Bizibilder definately needs an Observatory!!!!!

This is about as much as you will get to see of Bizibilder - He is rather camera shy.
This picture is here for a reason. Bizibilder is actually carrying out some serious research for one of his hobbies. Many years ago he was a very enthusiastic follower of this persuit but, as he grew up and discovered life, his interest in it wained. He has now decided to take up where he left off - hence the preliminary research that has been ongoing for the last couple of weeks.

The Hound of Hickling Broad

Church1 This was the scene of the crime, an old church in a village not far from the great broad at Hickling. A lethal cocktail of Chum and rapidly slurped water had lead to the dastardly deed. With eyes bigger than his belly the dreaded Black Hound had set his eyes and his heart on it - The Great Saussage Under The Table, dropped by one of the guests at the ancient villagers Wednesday afternoon tea party! He took it and ran as fast as his food-laden belly would allow – off into the countryside.
It wasn’t long before I, Inspector Brown Dog, was on the case. I leaped aboard my trusty yacht and started to search for the scoundrel. It was a calm day so we motored rather than sailed – speed was of the essence. I knew that Black Hound would not get far on foot and would soon have to take to the water.dog2

I searched both ways i.e. looking over both my right and left shoulders! I would miss nothing!

I asked the duck if he had seen Black Hound but he would not speak. No one would speak to me. They were all too scared to talk.

“I’ll tell you!” said Black Swan – he was the evil brother of White Swan, as I knew only too well. “ You’ll find an object of interest at the old boatyard”

I went to search…..

I found the weapon all right. But this was from another, far more evil deed of Black Dog – The Hide Mallet Murder!!!!!!

I got back on my boat and continued the search. Night was falling over the Broads…..

Next morning SUCCESS!! I found the stolen saussage left on the left bank!!

It was obvious that Black Dog had lost his nerve – and his saussage!

It didn’t take long to round up Black Dog and put him in a cell on the prison ship that sailed the broads for ever and a day.
There he stayed – never to steal again.
(With thanks to the animals seen and photographed on Bizibilders recent Holidays)

Bizibilders Electric Clock

Eclock1 Bizibilder is currently (when he is not busy doing other things) making an electric clock. Here are a few pictures that he has taken of the parts made so far. The triangular frame (painted black) is the main frame of the clock and will be fixed to the backboard of the case. The “curly” brass frame is to hold the few gears needed in this type of clock.
Eclock2These are two of the gears – all cut by Bizibilder using home made cutters. (The blue colour is to help in the marking out process – the gears will be highly polished in the final clock.)
Eclock3 This is the hand wound electromagnet that is used to power the clock (a good bit of 1850’s technology!!) occasionally, as the pendulum swings over the coils, it is given a little “pull” to keep the clock going!

Bizibilders recent fishing expedition:

IMG_0088 IMG_0076
IMG_0094 Bizibilder has been fishing again – this time with some success!  A second trip to Dunham has resulted in him catching a “good bag” including those shown here.  The greenish one is a Tench and the golden coloured one a Crucian Carp.  Neither, of course, were the biggest examples of those caught – they merely represent their species!
The family of swans spent the day paddling about and feeding on the copious amounts of weed in the lakes.

Bizibilders hobbies - clockmaking

Clock1 Clock2 Clock3

As you are all aware Bizibilder loves to make things.  For many years his main hobby has been metalwork and engineering in general.  During that time he has made many things one of which was the above clock.  This is a simple wall clock, made of brass and steel, that is driven by a weight.  It would have a pendulum to keep it in good time.  It has not been in use at Bizibilders new home and so has gathered quite a bit of dust!!  It did ,however, run for several years at Bizibilders old house.  Bizibilder has made several other clocks but this is the only one he has that is complete and in his possession.
